Eleven years ago, the God of all Grace called me out of the darkness of addiction and all that is interwoven with that lifestyle (jails and institutions, misery and hopelessness) and led me first to Barclay College to receive my undergrad degree in Pastoral Ministries and then shortly thereafter to receive my master’s degree in Practical Theology and then He led us here to Glen Elder Friend’s Church.
Today I, and my wife who was also called from that same darkness, have found our new lives in Christ. I am a husband to my amazing wife, Tasha. I am also dad to these two little ones you see in the picture, Keagin and Maci. As I have journeyed with the Lord these last 11 years, I realize more and more how powerful the apostle Paul’s words are in chapter 5 of Romans where he tells us, “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." Some of the most beautiful words written in Scripture reside in these 5 verses. To Him be the glory! |
